8. Betsy was free in the evening. (to finish typing)
9. When I saw Mrs. Smith she looked worried. (not to hear from her son for a long time)

В последнем предложении я бы вместо “from” написала “about”. Правильно “from”?
Кажется, во 2 предложении я сделала ошибку. Надо было написать “I had had dinner” или “I had dinner”
Где можно увидеть правильный ответ?
Лидия, давайте вспомним – глагол have (в нужном времени) + третья форма смыслового глагола. Какая третья форма у глагола have? Вот её и ставьте.

Добрый вечер, Лидия. Можно, конечно, from заменить на about, но смысл предложения от этого в корне изменится.
“from” – это когда она давно ничего не слышала от своего сына (то есть, он ей давно не писал и не звонил)
“about” – это когда она давно ничего не слышала о своём сыне (возможно, от других людей).
1. Alice was late. She had missed the 5 o’clock bus.
2. I wasn’t hungry. I had had dinner.
3. I couldn’t write to her. I had lost her address.
4. Mary was upset. She had got bad news.
5. George didn’t come to the party. He had left for London.
6. My father was angry with me. I had broken his watch.
7. My brother was diappointed. He hadn’t got a ticket for
the match.
8. Betsy was free in the evening. She had finished typing.
9. When I saw Mrs. Smith she looked worried. She hadn’t
heard from her son for a long time.
